Dear friends, I can’t wait for my recital in the Bulgarian Embassy in Tokyo on the 23rd of October.

 I’ve just played an excerpt of the main work I’ll be playing in this concert, and this　 is of course Frederick Zdziewski’s The People United Will Never Be Defeated variations.

 And I was thinking how fitting it is to play this work in such an intimate space, because it’s huge, it’s monumental, but at the same time it really sounds different in such a setting and it’s, I believe, meant for such an experience.

 So I think this will be a very, very special concert.

 And I can’t wait, I’m already for a couple of days in Japan and working hard and I can’t wait to come to Tokyo.

10月23日に東京のブルガリア大使館で開催されるリサイタルが待ちきれません。

先ほど、このコンサートで演奏するメインの作品の一部を弾いたところです。もちろんそれは、フレデリック・ジェフスキ作曲《不屈の民は決して敗れない》変奏曲です。

この作品をこんなに親密な空間で演奏するのは本当にふさわしいことだと感じています。というのも、この曲は壮大で圧倒的なスケールを持ちながらも、こうした親しい雰囲気の中ではまったく異なる響きを生み出すからです。そして、そもそもそうした体験のために書かれた作品なのではないかと思うのです。

ですから、このコンサートはとても特別なものになると思います。

すでに数日前から日本に滞在して懸命に準備していますが、東京で皆さんにお会いできるのが本当に待ちきれません。
