Hi, I'm Janne Mertanen.
I started to play piano when I was 12, in 1980.
I also heard Chopin Competition at that time, in October 1980, and I find Chopin very close to me since.
I started to practice really really hard, and somehow I felt that piano playing is something that I want to do.
I entered the Sibelius Academy in 1986.
I studied with Erich T.Tavascherna and Dmitry Pashkirov.
In 1990 I entered the Chopin Competition in Warsaw.
In 1992 I won the first prize in Chopin Competition in Darmstadt, Germany.
Then I felt that maybe the competitions are over for me.
So, since I haven't done any competitions except my recording of Nocturnes, I was in a recording competition in Warsaw in 2005 and received a diploma in Grand Prix, the disc production band.
I'm really looking forward to come to Japan after 10 years.
I have three different programs.
I play ten nocturnes of Chopin, third sonata, impromptus, prognesis, and then I play also some Sibelius and Heino Kaski.
I'm really looking forward to see you in October in Japan.

10年ぶりにヤンネ・メルタネンが来日！

“メルタネンのショパン”が聴ける！来月10月13日の東京の蒲田御園教会の1924年のベヒシュタインで長年メルタネンが温めてきたショパン・ノクターンのリサイタルを皮切りにショパンやシベリウスのリサイタルを東京は五反田、京都、広島で

「可愛い子には旅をさせよ」と言いますが、このメルタネンのビデをを見て「可愛い子には仕事を」と言うべきか。なんと12歳のご子息がビデオ撮り、編集も全部してくれたそうだ。センスが良いので、なんとヨエンスー・フィルのビデオ取りもバイトでしているそうです。メルタネン曰く「息子にかなわない」恐るべき12歳！
