Hello, my name is Emanuil Ivanov, I’m a Bulgarian pianist and I’m very happy and privileged to be coming to Japan to give a solo recital in Tokyo’s Gotanda Cultural Center on the 13th of July.
Back in October last year, I played a few concerts in Japan, including Frederic Rzewski’s The People United Will Never Be Defeated, as a statement against the war in Ukraine and as a prayer for peace.
And this year, I’ve included in my program a composition by Sir Stephen Hough, his third piano sonata, subtitled Trinitas. Now, in the Christian faith, the trinity is a symbol of hope, of love, of unity.
And that’s why I would like to dedicate my performance of it as a symbol of our continuous moral support for Ukrainians and also as a symbol of our unity against Russian aggression.
I would also like to point out that I’m in Japan and I’m visiting Japan thanks to MCS Young Artists and this spring they have donated nearly one million yen to Ukrainian aid and our support will continue. Thank you.
こんにちは、私の名前はエマニュイル・イワノフです。私はブルガリアのピアニストであり、7月13日に東京の五反田文化センターでソロリサイタルができることを非常に嬉しく思っています。
去年の10月には、ウクライナの戦争に対する声明と平和への祈りとして、フレデリック・ジェフスキーの「結束した人々は決して敗北しない」という曲を含むいくつかのコンサートを日本で演奏しました。
そして今年、私のプログラムには、サー・スティーブン・ハフの作曲である彼のピアノソナタ第3番「トリニタス」を取り入れました。クリスチャンの信仰では、三位一体は希望、愛、結束の象徴です。
そのため、私はそれを演奏することを、ウクライナ人への継続的な道徳的な支援の象徴として、またロシアの侵略に対する結束の象徴として捧げたいと思っています。
また、私がまた日本を訪れることができるのは、MCSヤングアーティストのおかげであり、今年の春、彼らはウクライナ支援のために約100万円を寄付してくれました。私たちの支援は続きます。ありがとうございます。
